Our purpose is to ease the load on the grid and eliminate barriers to electric vehicle adoption. We do this by installing smart charging technology. Unlike others, we support customers from end-to-end to plan, install, and manage charging stations.
Co-founded by CEO, Jonny Parker, and Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Zukerman, Thundergrid was established in 2019. Originally an offset of EcoGeek, (a low-carbon consultancy provider focused on sustainability and action), Thundergrid was born with transport seen as one of the most effective strategies to help New Zealand lower its greenhouse gas emissions and provide greater energy security for New Zealand.
In October 2023, Thundergrid was acquired by Landis+Gyr, a leading global provider of integrated energy management solutions. This has strengthened Thundergrid’s founding mission to ease the transition to electric transport in New Zealand.
Combining Thundergrid’s locally developed IP and approach with the backing of a global energy leader means Thundergrid is well placed to help New Zealand businesses adopt and upscale their EV charging infrastructure, enabling greater energy efficiencies at pace.
