EcoVadis Platinum Medal for Landis+Gyr
Thundergrid Advances with Sustainability Medal
Thundergrid continues to strengthen its mission of providing future-proof, end-to-end solutions, following the announcement that its parent company, Landis+Gyr, was awarded the prestigious EcoVadis Platinum Sustainability Medal in September 2024. "This achievement is a significant milestone for our industry, where manufacturing, devices, and solutions are all subject to rigorous sustainability reviews," said Jonathan Zukerman, COO and Co-Founder of Thundergrid | A Landis+Gyr Company. "As part of Landis+Gyr, we are incredibly proud to see this recognition of our ongoing sustainability efforts."
The EcoVadis assessment evaluates sustainability performance across 21 criteria within four key areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. As a 100% subsidiary of Landis+Gyr, Thundergrid celebrates the achievement of this Platinum status, which acknowledges the company’s robust commitment to sustainability across its operations.
Landis+Gyr earned its highest score in the Environment category (90/100), followed by strong scores in Labor & Human Rights and Sustainable Procurement (80/100 each), and Ethics (70/100). These results highlight Landis+Gyr's ongoing efforts to measure, improve, and mitigate its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impacts.
The EcoVadis Platinum Medal places the company in the top 1% of rated companies within its peer group, reflecting its leadership and operation in sustainability across 30 countries.
EcoVadis, founded in 2007, has grown to become a globally trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, assessing more than 130,000 companies worldwide. Its evaluations are based on internationally recognized sustainability standards, including the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, and ISO 26000.
Landis+Gyr announced that it had significantly improved its overall sustainability score, increasing from 72 to 80 since its last assessment. This notable progress further demonstrates Landis+Gyr’s dedication to embedding sustainable practices throughout its operations. "Our improved EcoVadis rating reflects our ongoing efforts to lead the industry in sustainability," said Werner Lieberherr, CEO of Landis+Gyr. "It underscores our commitment to incorporating sustainability into everything we do, from environmental stewardship to ethical practices and responsible procurement."
