TWO NETWORKS. ONE TAP
In a country where electric vehicle (EV) adoption is accelerating, the need for a seamless, reliable, and user-friendly charging experience has never been greater. For too long, EV drivers and fleet managers have faced a common frustration: Juggling multiple RFID fobs between workplaces, home and public chargers. This fragmented experience has been a barrier to convenience and efficiency in adoption of electric mobility.
Forming a Partnership
Recognising this challenge, Thundergrid and ChargeNet came together. We deliver a solution that redefines EV charging in Aotearoa. The result? A unified RFID that connects two of New Zealand’s largest EV charging networks. For you this means seamless access to public and private charging networks. Only use ONE single, easy-to-use RFID fob.
The Problem: Fragmented Charging Access
EV drivers and fleet operators have long voiced concerns about the complexity of managing multiple RFID fobs. Whether commuting in urban centers or navigating remote regions, the lack of interoperability is a problem. There is an unnecessary friction in the EV experience between private and public networks.
The Solution:
Two Networks. One Tap.
The unified RFID solution is a single ChargeNet RFID fob that grants access to both ChargeNet’s extensive public charging infrastructure and Thundergrid’s private workplace and home charging network. This innovation eliminates the need for multiple cards. It is streamlining the charging process and making it easier than ever to power up—at work, at home, or on the road.
Note, you need to be on a Thundergrid Charger Management Service to be able to enable this solution.
Whether you are a fleet manager overseeing dozens of vehicles or an individual EV fleet driver, the benefits are immediate and impactful.
How It Works
One RFID fob is issued to each fleet driver.
The card is pre-configured to work across both ChargeNet’s public and Thundergrid’s private workplace and home EV chargers.
You need to be on a Thundergrid Charger Management Service to enable this new solution. Then users simply tap and charge. There is no need to switch cards or manage multiple accounts.
The system supports real-time authentication, ensuring secure and reliable access.

Driving Adoption and Engagement
ChargeNet and Thundergrid would like to engage both, individual fleet drivers and fleet managers and encourage them to adopt the unified ChargeNet RFID fob to experience the difference.
