Thundergrid recently attended Electrify Queenstown, and what an incredible three days it was. Packed with insight, inspiration, and meaningful conversations about Aotearoa’s electrification journey, there are exciting opportunities ahead.

Three days packed with inspiration

Three days packed with inspiration

Day one at Skyline Queenstown set the tone, hearing from people like Saul Griffith, Rod Drury, and Mike Casey was a real highlight. Big thinking, grounded in action.
Day two at the Queenstown Events Centre was a full day of learning and discussion. The sessions brought together experts and leaders from across the energy and transport sectors including Aurora Energy, Rewiring Aotearoa, EECA, NZ Green Building Council, Air New Zealand, Naut, Le Velo Studios, Whoosh, and Doppelmayr NZ. The strong focus was on practical pathways to accelerate electrification and sustainability.

Day three wrapped up with a site visit to Forest Lodge Orchard, a fully electrified cherry orchard that proves what’s possible when bold ideas meet action. It was great to see our EV charger put to such good use!
After seeing how that orchard runs, having a product in the market like Farm Flex, a collaboration between Farmlands and Blackcurrant, that can replicate this for rural communities, and the farming industry is huge. It’s great to see solutions emerging that can really drive change on the ground.
At Thundergrid, we are energized by the momentum and collaborative spirit that was evident throughout the whole event. Electrify Queenstown wasn’t just a conference – it was a catalyst for action.
