It was a beautiful sunny day with hardly any wind (in Wellington!).  The city presented itself as stunning as the new Windrose Technology etruck. At Queens Wharf the first electric truck of this size in New Zealand created quite a bit of buzz. Our Thundergrid team went down to Wellington’s waterfront to experience the truck first-hand on our home turf close to our headquarters.

The Windrose truck is capable of 670kms on a single charge whilst pulling 49tonnes! “That would wipe out a large chunk of fuel costs and emissions for all Central North Island freight”, explains Thundergrid CEO Jonny Parker excited. At Thundergrid | A Landis+Gyr Company we help charging sites to unlock the power required to charge EVs reliably. And our solutions do not involve costly infrastructure upgrades.
“We can’t wait to help power the way for this truck and many just like it!”, finishes Jonathan Parker. The prototype from Etrucks® New Zealand is moving on to the South Island now.

Thanks so much Ross Linton to give us that first glimpse!
