Lightening the load

We ease the pressure on you to enable electric vehicle charging for your business, without impacting the way you work.

Chargers that Change

We also ease the pressure on buildings and the power grid with smart chargers that share the power supply when multiple vehicles plug in.

Beyond supplying chargers, we’re experts who specialise in every stage of the EV charging journey.

Design

Designing a charging solution for your business depends on your power supply, who owns the building, who will be charging, and your future plans.

We

We analyse every aspect, such as who will be charging (staff or public), if it’s for their own vehicle or fleet, if you’re part of a larger organisation or private, and how your needs may evolve in the future.

This means looking at your parking and electrical infrastructure, how many sites you have, what their different needs are, how much available power there is, and how it’s connected to the grid.

If your business has vehicles coming and going between homes and locations, integrating employee at-home charging is often the simplest and most efficient approach. We advise on policies if staff move homes or jobs.

If you don’t own your building, we take care of the relationship between you and your landlord, whether it’s one or many. We work with them to share your goals, understand theirs, and clarify who owns and pays for what.

Our design allows you to transition to EV charging without having to change the way you operate. From electrical designs with load management solutions, to installation and ongoing management.

Installation

Installation goes beyond chargers to making sure the power supply isn’t overloaded, and staff or public can access them.

We

We look after every part of the installation process, from disruption planning and traffic management to coordinating onsite logistics. We bring in the right people needed, even as far as removing and replanting trees.

Our smart charger installation includes load management. This means they vary their speed to not overload the power supply available in your building. So you and other tenants can add EV chargers and keep using heaters and coffee machines, without losing power.

As well as chargers on location, business solutions often involve at-home chargers for employees. We take care of employee engagement, installation, onboarding and setting up agreements in case they move homes or jobs.

Many of our chargers have interactive touch screens so the public, customers or staff can pay with a one-off credit card payment or through our Thundergrid app.

For businesses in a building complex, we recommend installing an electrical ‘backbone’ (cables and distribution) so chargers can be added in the future. We are brand agnostic and can work with most existing OCPP (smart) chargers.

We provide a site-specific safety plan and implementation plan that all stakeholders can review, clearly outlining what work is taking place, what will be installed, and how we will install it safely.

Management

Management is more than maintenance and upgrades. It’s providing user support, reporting, billing and reimbursing using our management platform, Ocean.

We

Like any device, chargers need regular updates, and we can do that for you. We can also perform annual compliance checks and periodic assessments to ensure the electrical safety of the equipment.

Our management platform, Ocean, allows us to see the live status of multiple chargers, so we can monitor their use online and proactively and remotely manage faults.

We set up identifiable user access via our app, key fobs, PIN codes or existing building access cards, linked to our management platform. This allows you to track users and reimburse home charging as part of ongoing management.

Using our management platform, Ocean, we create environmental reports to track your carbon emissions, and visual reports to track power usage per charger, vehicle or employee.

If you lease your building, our management platform (Ocean) tracks energy per charger, so landlords can bill you for the energy your chargers use.

Our management platform, Ocean, tracks the energy your employees use on their home chargers, allowing you to reimburse them. We can also manage the reimbursement for you.

You can set the rate on any of our public chargers, so customers, the public or staff can pay via credit card or the Thundergrid app.

Your staff can call the free-phone help desk any time for user support or technical help. We can resolve issues remotely and send a technician if needed.

“We are pleased to support our customers' journey to electric and have been working closely with the Thundergrid team to install and manage charging stations.”

Common questions

With variables to EV charging solutions, our experience gives answers to questions you didn’t know you had.

It is possible to just buy a charger, however there are bigger picture implications that we want to make sure our customers understand. We’re experienced with different scenarios and can walk you through the possibilities and processes.

Our staff solutions range from on-location to at-home charging. Staff can have the option to fast-charge at work over short periods, and charge at home overnight. There may be one fast charger at work that everyone shares, or several that are designated.

Many of our chargers have interactive touch screens so the public, customers or staff can pay with a one-off credit card payment or through our Thundergrid app. To enable these billing services you will need to be on a charger management plan, and define when and how you want to offer public charging.

For businesses who want to start with a few chargers but add more in the future, we install an electrical ‘backbone’ initially (cabling and distribution system), which lets you add chargers if and when you want.

We facilitate a solution between businesses, their landlords and other tenants that works for everyone. We clarify who pays for what, set up a cost recovery system so you and tenants are billed, and work with existing OCPP (smart) chargers if there are any.

If an employee moves home, we can move the charger to their new home, whilst leaving their previous home EV-charger ready. If an employee moves jobs, we put policies in place at the start of the journey, to clarify ownership and expectations.
