Lightening the load

We ease the pressure on you as a developer, landlord or body corporate to be EV-charging-ready for your tenants and residents.

Chargers that Change

We also ease the pressure on buildings and the power grid with smart chargers that share the power supply when multiple vehicles plug in.

End-to-end solutions

Beyond supplying chargers, we’re experts who specialise in every stage of the EV charging journey.

Design

Designing a charging solution depends on the building, if it’s new or existing, if you own or lease it, the power supply, and how to recover costs to ensure you are future proof.

We

Every site and organisation is different and requires experience in foreseeing the future. You may have multiple parking levels, tenants with different charging needs, chargers for multi-users or public users. The variables are endless, and we work with it all.

This includes assessing how many carparks, parking levels and buildings you have, what the electrical infrastructure is at each site, how much power is available, and how they connect to the grid.

Whether it’s one building or many, we bridge your needs with those of your tenants or residents, and help put processes and policies in place to recover your costs upfront or over the tenancy period.

With so many variables and needs, we tailor a specific plan to you as a building developer, owner or manager. From electrical designs with load management solutions, to installation and ongoing management.

Installation

Installation goes beyond installing chargers to project managing, commissioning, and onboarding tenants or residents with access options.

We

We look after every part of the installation process, from disruption planning and traffic management to coordinating onsite logistics. We bring in the right people needed, even as far as removing and replanting trees.

A key feature of our smart charger installation is load management. Our smart chargers vary their speed to not overload your power supply, so no matter how many vehicles plug in, your building is safeguarded.

Our charging solution installation includes liaising with tenants and residents to bring them onboard, ensuring they know how to charge their vehicles, and their billing is all set up.

Our future-ready system includes a centralised ‘backbone’ (cables and distribution) so you can add chargers in the future. It is also brand agnostic, so existing buildings may be able to integrate existing OCPP (smart) chargers.

We provide a site-specific safety plan and implementation plan that all stakeholders can review, clearly outlining what work is taking place, what will be installed, and how we will install it safely.

Management

Management is more than maintenance and 24/7 help. It’s providing reporting and billing through our management platform, to make life easier for you.

We

Like any device, chargers need upgrading and we can do that for you. We can also perform annual compliance checks to ensure the electrical safety of the equipment.

Our management platform, Ocean, allows us to see the live status of multiple chargers from multiple locations, so we can monitor their use online and proactively manage any faults.

We give drivers identifiable access via our app, key fobs, pins or existing building access cards, linked to our management platform. This lets you track energy use, bill, or have multiple users per charger.

Using our management platform, Ocean, we create dashboards and reports to track your carbon emissions and power usage per charger, vehicle, tenant or resident.

Our management platform, Ocean, tracks energy consumption, so landlords and managers can bill individual tenants and residents for the energy their chargers use. We can also manage the reimbursement for you.

Landlords and body corporate managers can call the free-phone help desk any time for user support or technical help. We can resolve issues remotely and send a technician if needed.

"Thundergrid’s expertise with load-managed charging solutions that flex with power requirements of other charges has been extremely beneficial in providing sufficient charging capacity operators require. We have been very impressed with their work to date.”

Common questions

With variables to EV charging solutions, our experience gives answers to questions you didn’t know you had.

Whilst you can buy a charger, there are bigger implications to multiple chargers operating at the same time. We understand the unique considerations of different sites and are experienced at solving different issues.  With Thundergrid, you won’t have to worry about the power going out or your investment needing expensive upgrades in the future.

More and more commercial tenants are demanding their premise to be EV charging enabled. We recommend getting us involved from the start to design a centralised ‘backbone’ which all chargers connect to, rather than installing individual chargers ad hoc.

We recommend designing and installing a central ‘backbone’ system (of cables and distribution) which all chargers connect to, to avoid ‘spaghetti’ wiring. This allows tenants to shift carparks without rewiring the garage and allows you to track users and bill from one management platform. Our solutions are also brand agnostic so we can work with most existing OCPP (smart) chargers in your building.

More and more new apartment buyers are demanding their premise to be EV charging enabled. We recommend getting us involved from the start to design a centralised ‘backbone’ which all chargers connect to, rather than installing individual chargers later.

In order to avoid ‘spaghetti’ wiring where individuals’ chargers are wired up to individual meters, our solutions revolve around a central ‘backbone’ of wiring, connected to one main meter. This allows you to track and bill energy use per charger, and add chargers in the future. You may also consider visitor chargers with touch screen payment.

If you have a few, tens, or hundreds of buildings with varying tenants, we help you put policies in place with clear agreements with tenants to recover your costs upfront or over their tenancy. Our management platform, Ocean, allows us to view and manage your multitude of charger activity in the one place and to enable billing services.

The key is to be unified from the start, rather than installing chargers individually. We recommend an initial central ‘backbone’ (of cables and distribution) where all chargers now and in the future can connect to. This is linked to a management platform for tracking and billing and allows you to add chargers easily as demand increases.

We have options for you to recover the costs of charger use. Our management platform, Ocean, allows you to bill tenants or residents per charging session as recorded by the charger. Alternatively, you could increase the lease or ask for payment upfront.

For commercial developers, landlords, and body corporates, the cost of the initial central ‘backbone’ (where all chargers connect to) is seen as a future-proofing investment that attracts and retains tenants and residents and is typically passed on. You can then also choose if you take on the cost of the chargers, share it or pass that onto the users.
